Lee Anna McGee on Photographer of the week 10: Recuenco
1:01 pm, 10.26.11
I’ve always been a huge fan of Recuenco. I think he is an exceptional photographer in every area. I love every bit of his work from the fashion side to the commercial side. I think he has an incredible eye for detail and for emotion. I feel like he captures not only the image but the noise that goes beyond the particular frame. I always get lost in his photos and feel like I’m not only looking at a picture but actually involved with what the picture represents. I think his work defines putting your soul and heart into your art.
Lee Anna McGee on Photographer of the week 05: Salgado

I really love this photograph by Salgado as well as his other work. I think he always does a fantastic job of capturing the moment and the emotion involved with the shot. Looking at his work really moves and inspires me. I think everything about this particular composition is just moving. It as if his work speaks louder than words by capturing the stances and expressions of the people pictured. He has a really great talent of being able to take something that is chaotic or sad and making it beautiful. I think this is part of the definition of photography and he nails it.

I really like the simplicity of these photographs. I think the team did really well incorporating negative space around the focal points (in this case the buildings, barns, etc). I typically don’t like center focused pictures but I find these appealing. I also think it is pleasing to the eye on how they did multiple pictures and put them all together for the series. I think they did very well with the lighting. Nothing shows up except for their focus point. I could see this being printed on about 18×24 and made into a poster.
