“Drink” packaging

If you’ve ever been a fan of packaging for a certain type of drink that shall remain unnamed, you should check out Oh Beautiful Beer! Great variety of packaging!

ION Men’s Care

This packaging comes from UNT alum Chad Michael. He says his aim with the men’s care line was to create an industrious and modern feel. I really think the metal and brown, textured paper does a good job conveying that.

Expired Milk?

Expired milk sucks.  Especially when you think it’s still good only to realize right after you’ve poured it into your bowl of Captian Crunch that it expired the day before last.  Here’s a milk carton that has solved all your problems!  The packaging turns from white to orange the closer it is to expiring.  Holy cow (pun intended) I think my life is changed forever.

Mixed Emotions

These “bottles” grab my attention immediately.  They basically mix 2 liquids to create an awesome drink once it hits your mouth.  It’s a nice play on twisty straws and color.  I’m prone to buy things based on whether or not I’ve seen something like it before.  This product seems completely original and genius!

Pick your poison

Here is a concept for packaging individual cocktail ingredients (shhh…). Not only is it beautiful, but the packaging becomes a thing of much use. The individual ingredients can be attached together, which breaks the seal, then the whole thing becomes a shaker.

I have really been thinking of packaging as something of use and not just beauty. The other day I made instant oatmeal and they have added measuring lines to the pouches so you can add milk without dirtying a measuring cup. Genius!

Check it.

How fun are these?  They kind of make me want to buy new headphones just because they look awesome.
I think that visually, this is a super successful product.  Why? Well, because it makes me stop and say, “Woah.  That’s cool.”  Not only does it grab my attention, it shows off the product at the same time.  Legit.

826 Mission

http://826valencia.org/store/

after looking over the latest project brief, I was reminded of all the unique stores that I have been in full of knick knacks and fun. Actually what sparked this particular store was a link on the project brief to the superhero store. It reminded me of an awesome store in Chicago I visited a little while back called The Boring Store- which was anything but. I started looking through The Boring Store’s website and discovered they were under the same chain as the Superhero one. 826 has quite a few stores spread out throughout the US, each with a different original theme. I guess I jumped on the bandwagon a few years ago in enjoying everything about pirates. That is why this particular store stood out to me. They have pretty awesome gifts and merchandise that is along the same theme line as our current project. And, 826 has an even cooler story behind it- check out the store site and blog for more info.

This Flickr pool has an unreal amount of min-century packages for inspiration. Lots of great colors and retro stylings.

Artifacts from the Future

WIRED Magazine has featured a final page photo called “FOUND: Artifacts from the Future,” for some time now, and they’re all fairly interesting (and funny). Our newest project reminded me of these photos, as they are essentially packaging for imaginary products that don’t exist yet.

I think my favorite part of these is how cheesy everything is, but because of that they look and feel like real products.
