Born on February 20, 1902,  in Western Addition, San Francisco,CA.

Ansel Adams images are so well known that photographers and tourists, who have the same techniques, but try to fill his shoes almost 60-70 years after  his most famous images were made. His web cite talks about some of his greasiest accomplishments, like Inventing the zone system,  environmental conservation efforts with the Sierra Club that led to creation of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks among other areas, the art education institutions that he helped to create, and also you can view his amazing photos in his gallery. For me, what makes him stand out from other photographers , is that he not only takes photos of the extraordinary place but tries to become one with nature in them. He gives back to the community because his love for nature and landscape.

Such outstanding work when there were only film cameras! I had such a difficult time at the beginning of the semester trying to use film. He was definitely a master at his trade going on so many hiking trips to capture these beautiful landscapes to hope the pictures turned out perfectly in the dark room weeks later.
