Nan Goldin
Nan Goldin was born In Washington, D.C, on September 12, 1953
Nan Goldin claimed her fame, “earlier by using her lens on her drug-using and transvestite friends to create shocking images that saw personal reportage re-born.” (www.artnet.com)
A web cite article states, ” As a teenager in Boston in the 1960s, then in New York starting in the 1970s, Nan Goldin has taken intensely personal, spontaneous, sexual, and transgressive photographs of her family, friends, and lovers. In 1979 she presented her first slideshow in a New York nightclub, and her richly colored, snapshot like photographs were soon heralded as a groundbreaking contribution to fine art photography. I love these images, a lot!!!when you think of it, building portraits out of found objects sounds crazy when you stop to think about. His style is kind of urban hip hopish culture like. He made these amazing project out of some else stuff which they consider to be trash. I guess another mans trash is a another mans treasure!!!

I’m so intrigued by the underwater photos, i just love them!!! Especially, the second one, didn’t know that the camera could highlight the detail of water so well… Also its amazing how none of the subjects are bother by their surrounds, such as the water hurting their eyes.

First of all is that my girl Sandra Bullock?!!! Dang, this a more soft and elegant side of her that i haven’t seen in a long time… Second man you were very lucky to meet this guy Dan,dude his work seems incredible.. I think he captured a different side of her that not to many people knew existed.

I find this image very creepy but yet fascinating!!! Diane’s work is amazing to me, having two identical twin girls stand next to each other, can see the similarities and the differences. Because everybody knows how hard it is to tell a twin fron another twin!!!:)

I can see why Paige, I notice just about all your photos kind catches a special moment in time, as the viewer I feel like I can feel the emotions of the subject.
It basically freezes it so the viewer can see what you where trying to capture, which good!!!

I agree with Jennie this are very beautiful and kind elegant picks…. especially the one with women dance you can almost say, they where taking from a video of her and made in to a collage storyboard.

Actually the more I look at this pick, I kind like it!!! I kind of agree with Michelle it does capture a old timing moment, also I feel like the viewer can get a fill for what it was like to live back in that time, it tells a story…

This type of camera reminds me of the project we did in class with creating our own camera. I didn’t really like this project it was very confusing and frustrating, because it was hard to produce a pick at all. But I also remember Nil talking about it and showing us how it works, which I thought was cool. The technique behind it was very interesting to me especially how they try to figure out the image so small was produced by this box…
