Zac Freeman

Although Zac Freeman is not necessarily a photographer, his artwork is a great example for our upcoming project, building portraits out of found objects. His work is made out of junk and disposable trash, and he creates the images by gluing the individual pieces to canvas. He says that the trash he uses is representative of the cultural changes in society. Freeman has used everything from film canister tops to iPhones to expand on the concept that things that are “desired one year [become] archaic the next as society, technology, and consumables continue to change.”

Here are some examples of his work:

I love these images, a lot!!!when you think of it, building portraits out of found objects sounds crazy when you stop to think about. His style is kind of urban hip hopish culture like. He made these amazing project out of some else stuff which they consider to be trash. I guess another mans trash is a another mans treasure!!!

I am so impressed by the amount of care and detail poured into each of these pieces. You can tell the artist spent so much time picking and choosing the perfect objects and arranging them until they were perfect. I definitely love the color and variety of objects he used!

These are so impressive. I love how there is no real theme in the coloring. Rather, all of the colors in the trash work together in the way they are placed, to show the values of the face. It is so incredible that trash, and really any objects, can be placed with others to create such a realistic piece of art work.

These are ridiculously awesome! I love the use of color. It’s crazy all the attention to tiny detail, like if one thing was off, the picture would look bad. Also, I like the use of random, differing objects rather than all uniform objects. Its adds interest to the photo and it’s just really impressive how he was able to fit everything into the exact spaces needed. Amazing work!
