So Karsh is an excellent photographer.  Check out some of his portraits and early images when you get a chance (click here)!  He has photographs some awesome people (Hemmingway being one… woah). His black and white portraits are breathtaking.  I really like the way he uses a soft light in his images!

Daniel Labelle is a friend of mine whom I worked at camp as a photographer with!  I’ve admired his stuff for so long!  Check out some of his images here.  He really caputres some fun stuff with water in his “camp” photos.  It’s encouraging to know that someone around the same age as us is doing so well in his bussiness!

Oh my gosh Brittany! These are awesome and creepy. I like the concept of them and the quality, but the masks creep my out. Hahaha.
It’s cool to see photographers getting creative with subject matter though. It really inspires me to do something way out of the blue and take a chance!

These are dancing with the line of distrubing to awesome. I love the images. The second I get freaked out by the make up and bone effects, the lighting, posing, and composition grab my attention. I really love the way these two images specifically are desaturated and black and white. It really makes the detialing stand out. Stinkin’ cool and freaky.

  3. It’s always interesting to hear other people’s introduction to photography. For myself, I had always loved the camera ever since I was a little girl. One year in elementary school I entered a contest which featured people making funny faces at my camera which was titled, “A Day in the Life of Leanne Kawahigahsi”. I ended up advancing from the district division to state and then finally advacned to compete for a national title. Though my piece didn’t win nationals, I realized how much I loved photography!

These seriously never get old. I’ve seen so many sets of these types of pictures and everytime I pretty much die laughing. Raw emotion. Stinkin’ awesome.

Another reason why I love these images is because I NEVER make those faces whe I go to a haunted house… never……………………..

  5. Leanne Kawahigashi on what do you get?

Everytime I’ve ever done a photoshoot, my goal is to deliver images that are unique, interesting, and captures emotion. I want the person to be able to tell a story when they look at their pictures.
When I worked at a camp as a photographer, we learned to take pictures that told a story. Whether that meant to include something in the background that could connect to the foreground or simply catching an emotion in the very second something exciting happens, we always tried to tell a story.
After all, that’s why we take pictures, right? To create a memory and relive the moment.

  6. I really like double exposure images. I always think of how Lauren did her project over the summer playing around with double exposure. It’s amazing what people can do with a film camera. The quality of images automatically go up when I realize things aren’t photoshopped. Love these images!

Woah!! This guy is awesome. Keen really does a good job using color to make his images interesting. He does have a variety of black and white images that I really like too. The amount of contrast he uses to make the subject pop is really nice. I enjoy his perspective he takes on his portraits. Cool!!

  8. Alberto Oviedo has an interesting style. He brings people into places they wouldn’t normally be (ex. The guy standing in the middle of the pond in a full on suit). In a lot of his pictures he bumps up the yellow tones. I’m not sure if I like it or I hate it. In some cases I think it makes the image super interesting, but in others, I think it makes it look super fake. I like the way he handles light, though. It adds a nice flair to the pictures.

  9. Holy cow. This guy is crazy talented. The perspective he uses is so interesting. I don’t ever get tired of looking at his pictures!! Some of the pole vualting (I think) images are just phenomenal. He creates such great depth to the images. Also, the lighting is something that really sticks out to me. In some of his “Places” pictures he has a light as the main focus of the picture. This is so cool! I would love to shoot some pictures like his!!!

  10. Dimmock has a fresh and clean feel to his pictures. I really like his on-site photography. His backgrounds keep me visually interested. This photography reminds me a little bit of Vivanco, because of his nice black and white photos. However, his take on fashion photography isn’t quite as abstract-minded.
