Storyteller Michael Wolf

While looking for some inspiration for our storytelling project, I stumbled across photographer Michael Wolf. I’d definitely encourage looking at some of his images and through the different photography series he has online. The majority of his images focus on one particular object in large cities; one of my favorite of his series is his Paris rooftop documentation (a few images shown below).

His website is: http://photomichaelwolf.com/#

VSCO has become one of my favorite photo app and photo editing presets. The camera works really well as it allows for independent focus and exposure adjustments. And their photo editing presets are simply gorgeous simulations of traditional analog film. Another cool feature is the integration between the photo library and online gallery (optional).

Elena Kalis is an underwater portrait photographer. I was able to find her work through Pinterest! Check out her website-she is INCREDIBLE. I am so inspired by her portraits because of the vibrant, incredible colors. Her underwater pictures are unique and create images that look as if they were painted. Elena Kalis

Annie Leibovitz
Another favorite photographer, for her versatile, daring and crafty style. I was able to see her exhibition: A Photographer’s Life, and many of her original prints in Paris a couple of years ago.

I have one of her books (American Music) in my office in case you’d like to look at. Follow this link for some images from the series.

Photographer of the Week 07: Winters

Now we start looking at more contemporary photographers. Dan Winters is one of my favorite commercial/editorial photographers. I had a chance to meet him while attending a workshop in Hunt, TX a few years ago. Really a great guy, and an excellent eye for “light composition.” He is now based in Austin.

Photographer of the Week 06: Arbus

Diane Arbus was an American photographer and writer noted for black-and-white square photographs of “deviant and marginal people.” Her found street portraits besides documenting the social, are very intriguing, depicting people of various classes, and backgrounds.
