Nan Goldin
Nan Goldin was born In Washington, D.C, on September 12, 1953
Nan Goldin claimed her fame, “earlier by using her lens on her drug-using and transvestite friends to create shocking images that saw personal reportage re-born.” (www.artnet.com)
A web cite article states, ” As a teenager in Boston in the 1960s, then in New York starting in the 1970s, Nan Goldin has taken intensely personal, spontaneous, sexual, and transgressive photographs of her family, friends, and lovers. In 1979 she presented her first slideshow in a New York nightclub, and her richly colored, snapshot like photographs were soon heralded as a groundbreaking contribution to fine art photography. I remember when we did this project,I really loved it!!! The concept of photograms I feel is the easiest way to get a photo, and if you’ know how to develop you own pictures it makes it fun and fast… I love this project the most so far because you basically can use anything,it’s crazy because it’s like a X-ray of the objects you choose.

i love the picks, it reminds me of some picks i took down town. I feel they were on to something great in that era, because when we take a picks of stuff we dont realize they may some similarities and i think that makes a picture more interesting, that and if the viewer can get fell of that time.

Although, I feel like this pick is very creepy and scary,it very symbolic looking. i feel like the women in the pick had it rough, and back in the 1900s the women didnt have to many rights. I also feel like it offends her with the sign on her chest.
Brenee Ewing on Photographer of the Week 01: Talbot

Let’s just say Henry Talbot had a lot of time on his hands, which we all can appreciate him for. Judging on the fact this process is a little time consuming, but in the end it’s worth it. Also, I love the fact that the pick above has a old time look to it, but this is probably because they where a little under developed. This what of some of my images looked liked too, I mean not as good but the edges and lumps….

I agree with cierra, about how the viewer might not notice that it’s projected on a room wall. I feel like that makes this picture so intriguing , knowing it came from a tiny whole, and that it can be basically projected on any surface. Also, if was projected on a different surface could we tell right away what it is? I think that was the whole point of this piece,it was part of the artist illusion.
