Jason Meyers

SORRY this is the hundredth editorial sports photographer that I am talking about. I just want to be one so bad okay?!

In all seriousness Jason Meyers is yet again another editorial sports photographer that exemplifies the level of photography I aspire to reach to. Though what I am focusing on in his work is the natural state he captures the athletes in on the field. One of the reasons why I love sports photography so much is that the pictures are not candid; the athletes are unaware of when I am taking pictures of them so they are in their most natural state on the field/court. Jason Meyers captures that concept beautifully, especially in the picture I pulled of the Miami Dolphin football player. Even with my own work, my most successful shots came from athletes were in their own zone unaware of my presence on the sidelines.

Also, God bless Jason Meyers for getting this picture of Tim Tebow golfing. #hottie

Laura Barisonzi

I have been researching a lot lately about women sports photographers because frankly I have yet to meet one, let alone even see one on the sidelines of any sporting events. While the industry for sports photographers is predominately male, there are women out there who are making a name for themselves in this industry. I came across Laura Barisonzi’s name from literally typing into the Google search engine “women sports photographers” and she was on the top. From her work it is evident why her name was one of the first ones to pop up because the photographs she produces for sports photography is absolutely amazing. It was hard to resist to upload a plethora of her photos onto this post, but I chose these three because even though they seem so simple, I am itching to know the production behind the photo that went into creating this high quality, amazing, shot. Screen Shot 2014-11-30 at 5.10.35 pm Screen Shot 2014-11-30 at 5.11.32 pm Screen Shot 2014-11-30 at 5.11.45 pm

Im a sucker when it comes to the eyes of a person or animals, even though some may scare me. It so intriguing that there are so many shapes, sizes, and color that a human or animals. The eye is capable of a lot of things , “they say its the door way to  a human soul.” The different contrast, shadows and how the eye is formed and concave is amazing!!!  Especially, how you can contour and manipulated it, with just about anything… Have you ever wonder what was the stuff in pupils that made it shine, dilate, wetter, or even seem gloomy?

I say this the because are current project we are working is fascinating and intriguing. It is a pick of Beyonce made out of tasty chocolate drops!!! Which we first transcribe in to a pixelate image of her, then about 5 hours later she was completed. I would post a pick of the finish product but that would spoil the finale presentation!!! Lets Just Say, “You never really pay attention or even appreciate at the small minor details of how some something is made until you stare at it for several hours…” Her eyes where the hardest thing to imitate. We would have been done early, but if know or like Beyonce you know how she thinks or feels about certain by eyes which adds to her expressions.  So we as a group said it was valid to get the eyes right.

Ansel Adams images are so well known that photographers and tourists, who have the same techniques, but try to fill his shoes almost 60-70 years after  his most famous images were made. His web cite talks about some of his greasiest accomplishments, like Inventing the zone system,  environmental conservation efforts with the Sierra Club that led to creation of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks among other areas, the art education institutions that he helped to create, and also you can view his amazing photos in his gallery. For me, what makes him stand out from other photographers , is that he not only takes photos of the extraordinary place but tries to become one with nature in them. He gives back to the community because his love for nature and landscape.

I found this photographer while looking at some popular photographer’s sites. This photographer’s website, called “Northlandscapes”, really intrigued me because of the locations of his landscapes. I am studying abroad in Europe in the spring, so it is really incredible seeing someone who so beautifully captures these different places around the different countries in Europe. My favorite pictures are his pictures of the Northern Lights. I am curious to what settings are necessary to capture the beauty of the Northern Lights!

Gender Roles in Photojournalism

1 Commentby   |  11.18.14  |  Announcements

Here’s an interesting article on women in the world of photojournalism, specifically National Geographic. The author interviewed two women on the significance of their sex when it comes to doing their jobs.

http://proof.nationalgeographic.com/2013/11/05/are-women-photographers-wired-differently-with-maggie-steber-and-lynn-johnson/

I thought this quote was pretty significant:

“Although all of the images are courtesy of 11 female photographers, once their images grab you, gender falls by the wayside.

And that’s how it should be, says Lynn Johnson, a photographer whose work is included in the exhibit. ‘In some ways, this conversation about what does it mean to have a women photographer’s exhibit is kind of obscuring the whole issue, which is just that these are powerful photographs.'”

Games that are pixelated

1 Commentby   |  11.18.14  |  Announcements

Pixilation has been around for many of decades, you may remember playing classic games like:

Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Street Fighter, Ninja Turtles, or Zelda

mario jump  piq_52440_400x400

Back in the day they didn’t have very good graphics for some of their entrainment, so a lot of the gaming systems produced disappointing products.

Do You Remember these Systems:

1261922-800px_atari2600a ,download, or even download (1)

Its crazy how they use what they had back then to create entertainment for the children, because now days ever thing is so high tech. The games they are producing now are less pixelated with better graphics to where the fridges almost looks real…

large

They even have a game today that is very pixdelated it is called “Minecraft”

maxresdefaultWhat is Pixilation?

  • Pixilation: is a image that is enlarged as far as it can, so that the viewer can see the individual pixels that form the image. Also the enlarging the image will have no further detail which gives it a distortion effect.

For Example:plix

Photographer who might have the camera slighty out of focus or  any angry person who try’s to  make a image small or larger might run in tho this problem.

This is also a technique that can be applied and unapplied by programs like Photoshop, GIMP,Pixelmator,  and etc.

Like the “Fujiya & Miyagi: Ankle Injuries” music video  that Nil showed us in class , it shows pixillations and found objects throughout the whole entire music video.

This video is a great example for our upcoming project, building portraits out of found objects.
