My idea is to create an app to make house/ apartment hunting easy. The app would have all houses/ apts available for rent at the moment or for the up coming semester. It would have all the info for the property listed as well as contact info for the realtor or land lord.

Newspaper Assignments Manager — iPad

Allows members of a newspaper staff to make, track and sort assignments. It will be optimized for the staggered deadlines that come with web-first publishing, and the newspaper staff be able to ask eachother questions and receive push notifications concerning their story assignments.

Intramural game manager — iPhone

Allows students to see upcoming games, stats, and tournament brackets from their phone. Sends notifications before games and when another teams win/loss affects your standing or schedule.

Running app — iPhone

Helps runners manage and created routes. Routes are generated based on the distance and difficulty the user selects. The difficulty of the course is determined by the app using geographical data. The app also pulls safety data from the number of police reports in a certain area. The user can save, rate, share and repeat routes. The app uses the user’s ratings to predict how they will react to other routes.

1. Restaurant ordering app. Checks allergies/ingredients/manages hours and scheduling.

2. What’s happening near you app. Checks online for nearby sales/concerts/specials/events etc. and sends you updates based on your gps location.

3. Lost pet app. An amalgamation of vet websites and animal shelters websites, alerts you if a pet is reported missing in your area, or if one has been found. Pretty much a quicker way to spread information concerning lost and found pets.

4. Friends statuses and what not. Syncs your iphone and facebook with text messages and alamrs. Could help with intramural events to send out group texts reminding people of games and practices, or if someone updates with some event going on, it would send out a mass text/reminder letting specified people know what’s going on.

5.  A personal Health tracker app. Plug in what you eat throughout the day, what exercise you do throughout the day, you plug in your current health standings, and your target health statistics, and the app can keep you honest and on track with how you need to live your life.

  1. Food Specials Database: An app for iPhone / iPad that shows limited time specials, daily specials, and hourly specials at restaurants and eateries within a certain mile range (using GPS location). Users could display the information in calendar form, hourly schedule form, or in a map form. It would allow users to filter by price range, restaurant genre, location, and more.
  2. Mobile “App” Generator: A website that allows users to quickly create a mobile site for their blog. Users would enter the RSS feed, choose images and colors, and select other options (such as community photos, location info, etc) and could then send that link to their readers.
  3. Shared To-Do Lists App: An app for mobile devices that would allow people to share a to-do list / shopping list. The lists could be broken down into categories, color coded, and given descriptions with instructions, priorities, map locations, photos. This would be designed so that families, roommates, or even co-workers could remotely share to-do lists and keep track of what tasks have been accomplished.
  4. Grocery Store Map: An in store map for mobile devices that would allow users to import their shopping list, and would then provide the most efficient route through the store while highlighting special deals that would balance quality and price for the best overall shopping experience possible.
  5. Theme Park Line App: An app for mobile devices that would show current line lengths at various attractions/eateries at theme parks, including time estimations, ride status (normal, down, double capacity, etc). The app could also integrate any fastpass functionality so that users would not have to carry around an additional device – they could place reservations from their phone and see a queue with directions on how to get to their next scheduled ride – and even decide whether or not to purchase fastpass directly from their phone without having to go into a specific location at the park.

1. Disc Golf Course Finder – Find all the holes, keep score, keep stats from past games, mark were you lose discs, ect…

2. Animal Shelter Finder – Profiles of all the Animals available with pictures/stats/facts, ect. This might exist in some form, I would want to make it somewhat unique, perhaps more suitable to a niche of people (such as catering to a single animal, such as a Pug Finder?)

3. Artists Map – Utilizes google maps to link environments/buildings/places with paintings/drawings/photos of those places by local artists. Example: Hiking somewhere, you see an awesome mountain, you check your app to see if any local artists have posted art of that mountain. Also an interesting way to share work with local artists. Could emphasize ‘plein air’ artists.

4. Shiny Shants (Shants = Short Pants) – Take a picture of a pair of pants, and the app magically shows you what those pants would look like as SHANTS! Features include a length adjuster, and more!

5. EatyourFace! – An app linked to a nearby bakery. You send a picture of your face to bakery, and they will deliver you a cake with a picture of your face on it!

1) A “CityHub” website (desktop and mobile) that would aggregate businesses, schools, churches, entertainment and cultural locations within a small or average sized city. Key feature operates similar to Facebook Pages in which every location would have its own “Hub” with discussion boards, media and news. Relies on small cities with a sense of local pride (Abilene).

2) A full-fledged Android/iOS text editor with syntax highlighting and autocomplete (optional). Would be able to integrate with FTP/SSH apps and work over both data and WiFi networks.

3) A social network built around the core concept of family, similar to Path. Would be tightly knit, focus primarily on privacy and security. Families link up via networks and share everything privately by default; nothing is shared outside family networks. Addresses the need many families have for keeping up with relatives separated by distance while maintaining privacy online. Family networks could fracture into subgroups if needed.

4) An iOS/Android/Blackberry app for storing all mobile game saves and allowing for backups online. Similar to what OpenFeint has accomplished for high scores, this system would be primarily open source and voluntary. Addresses the issue many mobile users face when switching phones or modifying devices and subsequently losing all game save data. Would also be cross platform and allow for easy exportation. Key focus is on eventual adoption by all major mobile game companies.

5) A media and content sharing site with a primary and major focus on content over discussion. Similar to Reddit/Pinterest/Canvas but with absolutely no discussion between users or social media integration whatsoever. Removes the constant need for moderation and addresses the problem that many users hungry for new content on the internet face daily when distracted by comment sections, forums and bickering between a website’s frequent users.
