Name: Lizzie and Phillip

Lizzie and Phillip are a newly engaged couple looking for a restaurant to cater their wedding that is coming up in June. They want a place that has similar foods to the food Lizzie grew up eating at home. She always dreamt of her Grandmother catering her wedding, but with age, she is finding that to be a bigger task than needed. They came across Poppy’s in an article about up and coming restaurants. The “home cooked with a twist” slogan is what pulled them in. Phillip wants some type of red meat and Lizzie wants chicken. Both of them want some fun sides and a couple different cobblers for dessert. They visited the website to see if there was an easy option for catering, they found that they could apply online and have a complete menu ready and even printed out with in minutes!

Name: Mark

Mark is a single father with two daughters, 15 & 13. One of his girls takes after him and is incredibly adventurous with everything, including her food. The younger one, however, is much more picky. She enjoys more simple food and pretty much just five different things. Because of this situation it is extremely difficult for Mark to find a place that both of his girls would want to eat. He heard of a new place in Austin called Poppy’s that was said to have “home cooking with a twist”. This place marketed themselves as having something for everyone. Now, most restaurants claim this and few prove it to be true. While looking at the menu online, after finding it particularly easy to navigate, Mark realized that this place did have what he needed. Also, found that he could make a reservation online as well without any hassle.

Henry is a 22 year old musician who just moved with his band to San Diego, CA. He moved from a small town in Maine and isn’t too sure of where to start in the music industry in such a big city. Walking around town one night, he noticed multiple flyers and signs for some local shows at a new tavern, (Rest. Name). Henry decided to check out the tavern online when he got home. Henry is interested in finding a good (affordable for low budget, fresh out of university, striving artist) local restaurant that offers a diverse menu selection, premium beer selection, and a comfortable social environment. Finding a restaurant that also has live music was the answer to Henry’s search. Navigating through the website, Henry found all the information he needed to be persuaded in checking out Rest. Name over the weekend. Not only was he impressed by the beer and food (large varied selection and even an extensive vegetarian menu for two of the band members didn’t eat meat), but he even found info on all the upcoming shows and how to get his band on the stage for everyone to see.

     Name: Mary Shultz

Hobbies: Hanging out with her friends and meeting new people. Trying new restaurants and            supporting local music.

Mary attends the University of San Diego and has found the 5 best friends she could ever ask for. They are together 99.9 percent of the time. Life is going great… except finding exciting, new things to do on the weekend is getting a little tricky after 4 years. Everyone in the friend group enjoys music, trying new foods, and socializing. The weekend is fast approaching and Mary needs to find something new for her and her friends to do- especially because of one of the friends’ birthdays is on Saturday. Mary remembered that one of her class mates had mentioned a cool new Tavern in town and decided to try and look it up. What she found was better than she could have hoped for. While on the home page of Rest. Name’s site, she quickly saw an event posting for Saturday evening. Low and behold, it was one of her favourite local bands playing. After seeing that good news she went on to look through the menu and specials and found a wide selection of delicious entreees at reasonable prices. Being satisfied with Rest. Name, so far she decided to continue to surf the site and noticed the help wanted link. Perfect, an awesome evening on Saturday night filled with good music and tasty food AND a potential job. She was also satisfied by the fact she could fill out the application directly from the link without having to stress about picking it up and dropping it off.

Jim is a retired carpenter, who lives alone. Jim doesnt have a car to drive aroud town, but likes to eat out at restaurants, so he must rely on restaurants being close to bus stops, or within walking distance of his house. Jim saw a commercial for this restaurant and wanted to check it out on the website to see if there was one close to him.

Martha is a single mother of 3, and works two jobs. Between her two jobs and and taking the kids to and from school and their extra curricular activities, she doesnt have aas much time to cook as she would like, and is forced pick up food from restaurants to feed her family. Martha checks out this website to see the affordability of this particular restaurant, if they have carry out, delivery, or catering options, and if they describe the quantity and nutrion facts of the food.

Stephanie is a typical high school band girl in Northwest Houston. She is very passionate about playing the trumpet and has met most of her friends from band in Junior high and High school. Stephanie is very outgoing and is always looking for new places to hang out with friends or to go out on dates, and she is constantly texting or on Facebook socializing. She would describe herself as computer-savvy enough, and owns an older Macbook Pro for casual web browsing and homework. While looking on Yelp for new ice cream shops around town, Stephanie stumbled upon [restaraunt name], and plans on bringing a few of her good friends there next Saturday.

Brad is a full-time marketing director for a well-known firm based in Katy, and he lives in northwest Houston with his wife and three sons. Because of his occupation, Brad is always looking for restaurants to take clients out to whether fancy and expensive or modest and budget-oriented. In addition to this, Brad volunteers as a soccer coach for his sons’ team at the local YMCA, and he usually takes them out to eat after most games. While driving  home from work last week, he noticed a new ice cream shop had filled the vacant lot across the street, and he decided to search for [restaurant name] to find out more about them, taking him to their website.

This is Anita Rodriguez and she lives in San Antonio, TX. She works at USAA and her company is having a business party. The party is casual and she wants to get foods that represent her heritage but she doesn’t have time to cook. She decides to pick a burrito place that can deliver Tex-Mex food to her company. She decides to go online to make the order where the burrito co. has the option to cater for USAA’s party. She goes to the catering option and picks large party where she can enter an amount of people and the party specials come up on screen. She has the options of ordering burritos, nachos, salads, and sopapillas. The easy side options of building your own burrito and nachos for catering are avaiable.

This is Rick Rodgers. He lives in Boerne, TX and loves Tex-Mex food. He loves going to the burrito co. where he can build his own burrito. But his New Years resolution was to eat healthier and get in better shape. He still craves the burrito co. so decides to go online to see if they provide healthy choices. He views the site and decides to choose the menu button. There he has the choice of burritos, nachos, and salads. He is tired of eating salads all the time so tries to figure out if he can eat a burrito. He clicks on the burrito page and there are the options to build your own burrito with healthy choices such as grilled chicken, veggies, greens, etc. Also, he can click on the nutrion fact page where it shows him all the nutrition facts for all the sides to put in the burrito.

Scenario 1-Jill

Name: Jill

Age: 31

Location: Austin, TX

Occupation: Marketing

Hobbies & Interests: Aerobics, running, cooking, and interior design.

Jill is a wife and mother of two children—a boy and a girl. Her daughter, Becca, is about to turn two and is having her birthday party at the end of the week. Jill’s family and in-laws are coming in for the party so she needs to cater to the children and adults. She has some specifications to meet besides a My Little Pony cake for Becca and high end deserts for the adults; her sister is gluten intolerant so Jill needs to order a cake that will not upset this food allergy. She wonders if her favorite bakery, Mon Cheri, has a menu that meets this need. She goes online to see her options and realizes that Mon Cheri has a wide selection of icings, fillings, styles to choose as well as custom designs and a food sensitivities section. Jill is able to purchase a fun cake for the Becca and the other kids, gluten free deserts for her sister, and supply other pastries and deserts for the rest of the party guests.

Scenario 2-Lee

Age: 20

Location: Austin, TX

Occupation: Student & Student Worker-Biology Research.

Hobbies & Interests: Reading, chess, hiking, diving, and football (soccer).

Lee is a student at the local university. He’s always studying and working it seems. He likes to get out of his dorm and the Library so he goes to Mon Cheri where he can grab breakfast or a snack on the go. The atmosphere is inviting and calm; it’s a great place to relax and read for Organic Chemistry. When he spends time with friends and his girlfriend. His girlfriend has a cello recital coming up and he wants to take her somewhere nice afterwards. He think that Mon Cheri serves nice dinners, but cannot remember. So he goes to their website to see what they serve. There are fantastic pictures of hors d’oeuvres, entrees, and deserts. He knows that breakfast and pastries are affordable, but sees that he needs to reserve dinner for special occasions for now. He goes ahead and makes a reservation on their website from his mobile phone on his way to class.

Scenario #1:

Name: The Dinglehopper’s

Ages: 36, 32, 7, 11

Occupation: Accountant, Stay at home mom

Location: Austin, Tx

The family has two small children who love animals so they are planning on going to the local zoo this Saturday for some great family fun. Afterwords they are wanting to get a frozen treat, and they remember the new ice cream sandwich shop, called [restaurant name], that has opened in town. They read in the newspaper that there were 3 locations opening, but they could not remember when the restaurants were opening or where the locations were. They want to look up a map of all of the locations to try to find the closest one to the zoo, and to see when these locations were opening in order to determine if they could get ice cream sandwiches this Saturday.

Scenario #2:

Name: Jessica

Ages: 23

Occupation: Retail Associate

Location: Austin, Tx

Jessica is a young woman who loves to live life and have fun. Lately she is into running, working out, and being healthier overall. She eats right most of the time but on occasion will splurge when out with friends. This weekend Jessica and a few of her friends want to go to a casual dinner and then get some ice cream afterwords. One of her friends suggests [restaurant name] as a good option, because of their different options of a cookie ice cream sandwich rather than the boring scoop of ice cream. Jessica agrees to go out with her friends, but she knows that this dessert most likely does not fit into her healthy diet, and she wants to look at the nutritional info beforehand to find  the healthiest option. She needs to go to the website and look at all of the items offered at this ice cream shop to figure out if they have any low-calorie or sugar-free options that would not hinder Jessica’s diet and healthy lifestyle.

Kyle Henderson

Age: 19 years

Occupation: College Freshman

Hobbies/Interests: Kyle is very athletic – he enjoys playing soccer, cycling, swimming, and running at track meets. He also plays Xbox with friends whenever he has extra time (or when he doesn’t want to do homework).

Scenario: Kyle recently graduated from high school, and when he did, he got quite a few gift cards for restaurants in the area. He had eaten at {restaurant name} several times before with friends, and wasn’t sure whether he had any money left on the gift card. Since he was running low on cash, he decided to see if he could figure out if there was enough left to pay for a full meal. He logged on to {restaurant name}’s website and quickly noticed the gift cards menu option, which he selected. Once on the menu card page, he quickly noticed the tool to check card balances. He entered in the bar code number from the back of the card and was instantly shown his remaining balance – $14.20. To be on the safe side, he then navigated to the menu section and checked lunch prices – he was quickly able to tell he would have more than enough left on the card to eat a nice lunch.

Timothy Bailey

Age: 37 Years

Occupation: Database Administrator / Analyst

Hobbies/Interests: Timothy is fascinated by science and technology – he enjoys watching the Discovery Channel and reading tech blogs. He also loves being with his wife, Renee, who he has been married to for almost ten years.

Scenario: After a particularly busy and stressful week, Timothy wanted to take Renee out to a nice new place to eat. He had heard good things about {restaurant name} and decided that he would check out the website to see if it looked like a place that he and Renee would both enjoy. After reading the “about” page to get a general feel for the restaurant, he navigated to the menu page and the dinner subpage. He then decided to see what desserts and drinks that were available. He was impressed by the selection and pricing, so he then navigated to the locations page and typed in his zip code to find the nearest location – where a link to directions was also provided through Google Maps. He saved the map to his smartphone for easy access when they were ready to go.

Name: Nathan

Age: 25

Occupation: DJ

Nathan was born and raised on the streets of East L.A. It was there that he developed his love for music, the arts, and good food. Nathan is currently working his way up the ranks in Southern California’s underground DJ scene, hoping to one day hit the big time. His profession demands his absolute dedication, so Nathan rarely ever finds time to sit down and enjoy a good meal. Nathan was happy to find that [Company name] was fast and easy and, most importantly, delicious. Being the internet savy DJ that he is, Nathan plans to check out the [Company name] website as soon as he can, hoping that he can order food for pick up, or, even better, delivery.

  Scenario #2 –

  Name: Sebastion

Age: 31

Occupation: German Tourist

Sebastion has been to America three times, but this is the first time he’s ever visited California. Ever since he was a kid, Sebastion’s first thoughts about America were the famous movie stars of Hollywood, the sunny weather, and of course, the beaches of Southern California. Determined to live out his vacation to the fullest, Sebastion Googled restaurants that would give him the most authentic Beach-scene food that the city of L.A. had to offer. His search led him to [Company name]’s website, and he’s planning on heading there soon.

Julia-ana

Age: 24

Occupation: Photo-journalism

Hobbies/Interests: She loves reading books, is super into  music and plays the banjo in a small electronic folk band. She  also finds   time to croche hats for her closest friends.

Julia-ana just graduated college and found a job working in         Raleigh north carolina for the local newspaper as a photographer, she is super excited and her new job actually pays pretty well. This new flow of income has given her a little more freedom and time to spend on having a social life. She loves hanging out with her friends and frequently goes out. She is new to the area but found a very interesting restaurant on urbanspoon named “Yum noodle house” it was highly rated so she decided to do some research and check out the menu online. She was very pleased they have some of her favorite dishes and even a noodle bar, she found it very appealing with a fresh looked. Julia-ana also noticed that they have take-out which is a plus for those night where she just wants to enjoy her noodles alone. She plans to visit tomorrow with a small group of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Onswanker

Ages: He’s 29 she’s 28

Occupations: Together they own a book store with two locations.

Hobbies/Interests: This couple loves going on road trips, they don’t have any kids and whenever they have vacation time they will take long road trips across the country exploring america, in their Prius.

The Onswankers love to travel and today along their travels they have a hankering for some japanese food. So Mr. Onswanker whips out his ipad and looks up the nearest one. He finds Yum Noodle House and is surprised that they have an excellent lunch menu with plenty of options. Mrs. Onswanker loves seafood but Mr. Onswanker loves some seared steak teriyaki, Yum Noodle House has both of these things, even thogh they specialize in their Noodle Bar which is an added plus because they both love noodles. They stop by and find the price pretty appealing and dig in enjoying every bite constantly joking about how yummy the noodles are.
