I got an internship yesterday with Two Pair Photography. I really like their wedding photography and think they are really creative. They aspire to be “new pinterest posts” and not duplicate the old ones, which I admire. I’m looking forward to working with them and hope yall enjoy!

Shaun Menary is a photographer that does some high fashion type of engagement shots along with classic, natural lit shots. His work is stunning. I discovered him through my friend Jillian Edwards, an emerging vocal artist, who has used him to do her CD album covers. His portfolio is nice a diverse, with weddings, portraits, street photography, landscapes, etc. Check out his unique style at http://shaunmenary.com/

I love the street photography quality to all of these photos. The black and white has a nice, crisp contrast that is very appealing. In the study abroad course, we talked about how a lot of “pure” street photography is unedited. This leads me to the question of “are these photos edited and if so, how much?”

Whoa. This is very interesting for sure! I think it’s always a great idea to be mindful of new, innovative photography techniques and whatnot. I like it.

  3. This makes me think about our final project. I think videography is such an important up rising aspect of photography that as art students, we need to be highly knowledgeable of in order be successful in this type of a field. I find myself watching movies and tv shows with more of an artistic eyes, noting composition and depth of field more.

The shot on this post with the double exposure with the bright pinks, oranges and greens is so interesting. Most double exposures I’ve seen are monochromatic but this shot gives it a whole new feel. Interesting effect of using color vs. B&W.

I took street photography with the study abroad program this summer and loved it. It’s a true art to figure out the line of creepiness/naturalness that street photography requires. This shot it great, showing the motion of the biker along with the rhythm on the stair case. Great shot!

I’ve always been fascinated with the double exposure shots. I love these combining nature a a portrait and for the double of the nature to only come up on the silhouette of the face. It seems easy to photoshop, but I agree with Leanne that the quality goes up when they are pure photos.

Whenever I take pictures for clients, I want them to see a snapshot of their personality in a picture. I don’t want them to see it and say “that’s not me, I’m not that serious” or “I wish I wasn’t as smiley”. My goal is to capture who they are and not who I want them to be.

The editing on this particular photo is breath-taking. I’ve come to admire a lot about a picture with the editing decisions that are made.I find myself asking the questions “how many layers does it have?” “what editing software did they use?” and “what techniques do they use that are apart of their particular style?”

  9. I also looked at his website a loved the faces section. After taking the street photography course this summer abroad, I have a new fascination and appreciation for such fantastic simple moments that he captures. All the sports photography is also incredible with such crisp images.

  10. This photo is fascinating to me. I love the texture and the angle of the feet. I always would love to sit in the room with the photographer as they edit this type of photo because the contrast is so stunning and unique. The choice of lighting makes the photo extraordinary.
