Interview Questions for Reference
The following are the interview questions you will see on InterviewStream. First choose your keystone project from either your 2D Design or 3D Design class.
1) Formal Analysis
Describe how the formal elements of design (line, shape, texture, value, color, positive and negative space, mass and form, materials, etc.) are at work within this piece. What are the key formal elements and supporting features of the work and how are they woking toward the purpose of the piece.
Don’t feel obligated to address each of these elements systematically, but instead focus on the elements that are most integral to the work.
2) Compositional Analysis
Discuss how you have used the formal elements of design to control the eyepath of the viewer. Feel free to discuss how compositional elements such as perspective, dynamism, balance, continuity, variety, and contrast create points of emphasis, entry, and movement within the artwork.
Again, resist the temptation to use this list of compositional elements and principals as a formula for answering this question, but instead use them as a prompt for focusing your answer on the most relevant elements and principals within your design.
3) Interpretive Analysis (Limit 2 Minutes)
Describe how the elements (line, shape, texture, etc.) and principles (balance, continuity contrast, etc.) you focused on in questions 1 and 2 contribute to the expressive qualities of the piece? What kind of emotional response might they evoke in a viewer?
