THE BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE

The Bachelor of Arts degree provides opportunity to major in art within the framework ofa liberal arts degree. The greater latitude allowed by the BA core allows several different interdisciplinary art majors, as well as a general major in art. Students pursuing a BA in art should choose a major from the following: Art, Graphic Design/Advertising, Art/Marketing, Art for All-level Teacher Certification, Interior Design, and Pre-Architecture. This major is for the student who wishes a major in art while retaining a large number of elective hours for a second major of the pursuit of other academic interests.

Credit requirements for the BA with Art Major are as follows:

General Electives ____________________________________ 18 hours

Academic Advance Courses do not count for elective credit.

BA Degree Core (all BA degrees) ________________________ 24 Hours

Basic Studio Selections __________________ 21 hours

Art History __________________________ 9 hours

Advanced Studio Selections ____________________________ 15 hours

Studio Concentration __________________ 9 hours

Non-Specified ________________________ 6 hours

Total Hours Required for BA in Art _____________________ 128 hours

Fine Print: Art hours transferred may not exceed 24 of the 45 required art hours for the BFA degree; at least 24 advanced studio hours must be taken at ACU. Furthermore, 25% of all hours taken and the last 24 hours taken must be taken at ACU. No more than 66 hours transferred from a junior college may count towards a degree.
