Mac coordinates the day-to-day hands-on activities in Special Collections, Center for Restoration Studies and University Archives. A typical day might include receiving a new archival collection, adding books and periodicals to our holdings, troubleshooting a processing or preservation decision or assisting students and faculty with research. Every day includes supervising our corps of student workers by working closely with them to bring our collections into good order. He manages several digital archives projects, from our work with West Texas Digital Archive, the Portal to Texas History and the International Missionary Photography Archive to ACU’s Digital Commons, plus this blog and social media. He is involved in all phases of these projects from collection preparation to digitization and from the creation of metadata to facilitating the use of digital archives in various teaching and learning environments at ACU. In addition to preparing items for use by researchers, he maintains active research and writing interests in Stone-Campbell bibliography, history and theology. Teaching, discovery, collaboration, inquiry, transformation and service are at the heart of his work.
When you visit in person or contact us by phone or email with a research inquiry, chances are good that Mac will assist you. He takes special delight in connecting researchers with just what they need for their project.
